When a translator isn't translating...

... aka how to stay sane.

One of the best accounts of life as a translator can be found here. So good, I reckon it ought to be feature on the curriculum of translation courses: http://enlalunadebabel.com/2015/03/16/a-translator...

Yes, being a translator involves a lot of coffee! But it also requires the ability to say 'enough's enough', slam your laptop shut and leave your little bubble. I do this by going for regular runs in my local park and by helping out at the Brixton/Norwood food bank once a week. Not only does the latter give my poor brain a bit of a rest, but it's also a timely reminder that not everyone is as fortunate as I am. The past 15 months or so have opened my eyes - to the difficult circumstances some find themselves in, and to the generosity of so many local people.

Don't hesitate to donate something to your local foodbank! More information can be found here: http://www.trusselltrust.org/foodbank-projects
